Club Information - Who We Are

The Rotary Club of Madison...

  • Is a diverse collection of civic-minded business and professional community leaders who meet each week for fellowship, professional enrichment, and the opportunity for service;

  • Provides an opportunity for business development networking with a variety of community business leaders and professionals.  Rotarians help each other and collectively help others;

  • Offers a wealth of friendship opportunities with the most active citizens in our community.  In an increasingly complex world, Rotary provides one of the most basic human needs: the need for friendship and fellowship;

  • Is an adult recess where members take a break from their professions to join with other community leaders in a stimulating atmosphere, learning from provocative speakers and sharing ideas in a collegial and personal setting;

  • With 500 members, was founded in 1913 and is one of the 8 largest Rotary clubs in the world of 31,000 Rotary Clubs. Rotary International is the oldest service club in the United States.  There are over 1.2 million Rotarians worldwide in 166 countries;

  • Has joined with Rotarians worldwide through Rotary International’s PolioPlus Program to certify the world poliovirus free.  Over $500 million has been raised; 150 countries are now polio-free;

  • Bases its membership on a classification system with limited numbers from each business or profession.  This system ensures a wide cross section of community representation and provides a unique opportunity for members to meet individuals from outside their own professions;

  • Meets every Wednesday noon to hear from speakers on timely issues and enjoy the fellowship of other top professionals from the community;

  • Annually distributes through its associated Madison Rotary Foundation, more than $500,000 in grants and scholarships within the community;

  • Encourages members to provide a voluntary contribution annually to support the works of our charitable arm, the Madison Rotary Foundation.   Members prefer this method to participating in fund raising activities;

  • Supports a variety of international service projects and educational programs such as Group Study Exchange, Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarships and Rotary Youth Exchange Programs;

  • Offers a variety of volunteer opportunities to members interested in hands-on activities through our Community Service Committee;

  • Expects members to attend on a regular basis in order to enjoy the full benefits of Rotary.  Members are expected to attend at least 60% of the meetings in each six-month period.  Members unable to attend our regular Wednesday luncheon can make-up at any one of the other Rotary Clubs in the Madison area or any of the 31,000+ Rotary Clubs in the world;

  • Encourages participation in one or more of the club’s 35 committees. Attendance at committee meetings also counts as a make-up credit.  In addition, there are a number of fellowship groups within the club which always welcome new members.

The Rotary Club of Madison reflects a broad cross section of business and professional leaders in the Madison community.

Current membership is 500.
